Too Yumm – My binge this Holi!

Holi this year was pretty boring for me; I had to slog at my office while others were getting drenched in buckets of colours and Bhang and posting those pictures on facebook! Anyway, everything was not so dull either, the silver lining came in as a surprise hamper to me and yes, it was my Holi binge delivered to my doorsteps!

And yes, I received this bag filled with fun and goodness!

A big bag filled with varieties of TOO YUMM snacks! I have been seeing this Too Yumm TVC featuring Virat Kohli for last few days and I was very intrigued by this fantastic TVC, because it says you can have this anytime as much as you like, with a tagline of ‘Eat lot, Fikar not’. That is mainly because it’s devoid of the harmful effects that the fried chips have. So when this bag of goodness came in, I was simply elated!

RP Sanjiv Goenka Group’s FMCG Division, Guiltfree Industries, has recently launched this healthy snacks brand Too Yumm. It’s great fun binging on the different packs of these healthy baked snacks. The young generation today is addicted to chips, nachos and other fried snacks which continuously harm their bodies, so there is an empty segment where these healthy baked snacks can come in. It has to be healthy as well as extremely flavorful at the same time, so that young generation starts trying them out. And Too Yumm is exactly that smart snacks – it is baked and not fried, it has zero trans-fat, it is made with real vegetables, and it is air popped having natural antioxidants.

The Too Yumm products that made my Holi colourful!

You can have three kinds of Too Yumm snacks – Foxnuts, Veggie Stix, and Wheat Thins. And every category has 3-4 variants or flavors. My Holi special bag from Too Yumm had: Chili Chataka Veggie Stix, Homestyle Classic Foxnuts, Chatpata Masala Foxnuts, Tandoori Foxnuts, Minty Pudina Wheat Thins, and Butter Garlic Wheat Thins. Out of these, I really loved all the Foxnuts and they are extremely flavorful, light and addictive 🙂

Veggie Stix – Chili Chataka

Also, the Chili Chataka Veggie Stix with real tomatoes are so tasty, fluffy and smeared with tangy, spicy masala! The Wheat Thins are flat, square-shaped, baked, subtle flavoured snacks that come in an amazing airtight packaging to retain the crunch. While I was munching on these amazing Wheat Thins, an idea struck me. Why not try out some simple super-quick recipes with these packs of Wheat Thins?

Wheat Thins – Minty Pudina

So, here is what I tried. I tried two simple recipes with these packets of Too Yumm Wheat Thins. I will call my first recipe – ‘Too Yumm Eggcelent Wheat Thins’ and the second one – ‘Too Yumm Masala Thins’. So here goes the first recipe, it has an approximate preparation time of 8-10 minutes.

Too Yumm Eggcelent Wheat Thins

This is basically a breakfast dish that you can try out with the Minty Pudina Wheat Thins or Butter Garlic Wheat Thins. Basically, this will be a simple dish having the sunny side up sitting on a bed of Wheat Thin crumbles. Here are the ingredients that you will need for this dish:

IMG_3041

  • 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Garlic Butter or plain butter
  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Half teaspoon of finely shredded ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • Some roughly chopped Cilantro
  • 1 packet of Too Yumm Minty Pudina Wheat Thins
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper
  • Red Chili flakes

You should actually try out this recipe with two eggs with a full small packet of Wheat Thins. I tried with one egg though, here in this case.

Preparing the masala base with the crumbled Wheat Thins

So, here is how to make this dish. Start by heating the butter in the non-stick frying pan and add some olive oil to it. When heated, add the chopped onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies and keep stirring occasionally until it starts to turn golden brown. Add the chopped cilantro to this and keep stirring, add a dash of fresh lemon juice to this. Crumble the Wheat Thins chips to this mixture. Keep stirring to mix the contents thoroughly.

Then make a hollow in the surface of the mixture and crack open the egg into it. Just add some sprinkles of water by the side of the pan and cook for few more minutes by covering the pan. Once the egg whites are set, just check if your egg is ready. Once it is ready, take it off the flame.

Sprinkle some salt, pepper and red chilli flakes over the egg yolk. Serve it on the plate and enjoy it with some bread and morning coffee! If you are a big fan of cheese, you can add some shredded cheese on top of this, but I avoided that part.

Here is the second recipe, it is pretty simple:

Too Yumm Masala Thins

This next dish is rather simple and is an improvisation of the masala papad that we have so often.

Here are the ingredients that you will need for this dish:

  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 medium sized cucumber, finely chopped
  • 1 medium sized tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/2 medium sized green chilli, finely chopped
  • Some roughly chopped Cilantro
  • 1 packet of Too Yumm Butter Garlic Wheat Thins
  • Salt to taste

Freshly prepared Too Yumm Masala Thins!

This is just a one-step no-fire dish where you take all the finely chopped veggies like onion, green chillies, tomato, cucumber, cilantro and add on top of the Butter Garlic Wheat Thin chips. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper (if you want to) on top of this. Then you just serve it on plates with some piping hot black tea! This is one perfect evening snack and in fact, can be a great snack for Holi parties as well; you can get it prepared in just 2-3 minutes!

Overall, I really liked all these flavours and products from Too Yumm! Now it’s your turn to taste them. Also if you try out these two recipes, do let me know how you liked them in the comments section below!

Cheers!

P.S. – The ‘Too Yumm’ products were sent to Foodiedada for tasting and review purpose!
