Serafina is surely one of my favorite fine dine restaurants in the city. It is one place I can rely upon on any given day; it’s a place where I would love to celebrate my special occasions. Serafina to me is an epitome of culinary perfection, the paradise of Italian food lovers in the city of joy and an amazing meeting point for friends and family. Few days ago this favorite meeting place of mine introduced me to some of the brightest talents of Tollywood. Team “Yeti Obhijaan” was here at Serafina (Kolkata) to meet some of the bloggers in town and talk about their upcoming Kakababu flick that is an adaptation of the Bengali story ‘Pahar Churaye Atonko’ by Late Sunil Gangopadhyay. All of us were overwhelmed to meet the renowned movie director Srijit Mukherjee and the young talent Aryann who plays Santu alongside Kakabau, which is being played by the legendary Tollywood star Prosenjit Chatterjee.

We had a long chat with Srijit and Aryann about the movie and the adventures they had while shooting. We even got to know what food they used to have while shooting at sub-zero temperatures in the Alps! Srijit said that, coincidentally there was a restaurant with the name “Yeti” on the hill top that churned out couple of delicious dishes and served them with an amazing view of the Alps! Since my connection with movies till date has only been as an audience and I was never much aware of the technicalities. Srijit & Aryann’s anecdotes on the hardships and challenges they faced while shooting in the Alps was something like an eye-opener for me! I am all the more eager to watch this movie now, and am sure that some of the movie scenes will remind me of the stories we got to know from them. We really enjoyed every bit of this conversation which was followed by the dinner at Serafina. Coming back to the movie, Yeti Obhijaan is a Bengali adventure thriller film directed by Srijit and produced by Shrikant Mohta, Mahendra Soni under the banners of SVF Entertainment which is all set to release on 22nd September 2017 just before the Durga Puja.

In this movie, Kakababu and Santu will unknot the mystery of the legendary beast i.e. the Yeti which is basically a gigantic snowman. Gorokhshep plateau is the new destination where the uncle-nephew duo will be facing harsh circumstances in the process of unraveling the actual truth behind the attacks by this giant beast. The quest introduces them to several new characters like Mingma, Norbu and local sherpas, who help them immensely in this adventurous expedition. And this amazing adventure leads them to discover the mystery of the Yeti. That’s Yeti Obhijaan for you, in a nutshell.

Now coming to the venue, Serafina surely needs no introduction! With headquarter in New York it has a worldwide presence and the City of joy is surely privileged to have it at the Quest Mall. It churns out some of the best pizzas and pastas on this planet, which you can probably dream of having in your lifetime! Serafina guarantees fabulous food, premium service, supreme comfort and an overall exciting experience every time you visit. This blog post is about that occasion when the new Lunch menu was served for tasting purpose, even Team Yeti Obhijaan tried this new Lunch menu and they absolutely loved all these items.

So, let us check out what are the best items from this menu which I liked. You shouldn’t definitely miss these. Here we go:
Spaghetti All’ Abruzzes – Sorry to start with the spaghetti, but I felt this was just insanely good. It’s Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic, red chilli flakes, fresh herbs, veggies and parmesan. It was simply a classic, something which you can’t definitely miss.

Jalapeno and Corn Chowder Soup – Well, I should have started my food talk with this soup, but anyway there are some emotions I can’t control and appreciating good food is definitely one of them. Coming to this soup, this was a jalapeno and corn thick pureed soup with chicken bits in it that tasted so subtle, soothing and comforting. If you wanna try out some soup here at Serafina, definitely go for this.

Fish dumpling – Well, according to me this was something which didn’t promise much from the looks but when I tasted it I realized my eyes have closed in some sort of appreciation! These were Caper Stuffed fish balls tossed with spicy marinara sauce and fresh basil which made it amazingly flavorful and soul satisfying.

Chicken Caesar Salad – Again Serafina amazes me with this simple salad. Unless you try the chicken Caesar salad here, you won’t realize what I am talking about. It has Green romaine, loads of croutons along with a homemade dressing that has been tossed with parmesan and loads of chicken in there, perfect way to start your meal.

Roasted Vegetable Lasagna – This roasted vegetable lasagne is served on bed of tomato puree with fresh exotic veggies in there. It’s pretty filling and definitely worth a try!

Panzanella Salad – Often (in fact, quite often) I try out things just to detox my body a bit, and a simple veg salad just does that, along with some fruits maybe before that. This panzanella salad has chilled tomatoes and cucumber, red and yellow bell peppers, loads of bread croutons, fresh basil and caper with balsamic dressing. I so loved this fresh salad!

Pizza Norcina – I would definitely love to end this review with this innocent looking gorgeous pizza that tasted absolutely heavenly. It didn’t have a very thick base and was drenched in Mozzarella, loads of mushroom and some spicy chicken to suit my palate! Overall, it is pretty subtle and absolutely classy, not at all spicy or tangy or anything you will get at all the pizza joints spread across the city!

Also besides this, you can try Roasted Beet and Garlic Soup, Pan Fried Fish (with mashed potato and lemon butter sauce), Fried Calamari, etc from their lunch menu.
We also tried couple of desserts from their existing menu which were again enough to make us go weak at the knees. The Lemongrass Creme Brûlée had a rich smooth custard base with a perfectly contrasting layer of hardened caramel on top, I bet you can’t stop at one! You’ll need a second helping 🙂 This was closely followed by the Gooey Brownie which was basically a fudge brownie drizzled with chocolate sauce, something which you can’t again miss.

So, next time when you are in for lunch at Serafina, you can definitely refer to this post and order some of the above newly introduced items!! I am sure, you will love them all. For me, everything was much above my expectations (well, it’s always true for Serafina) and I will surely come back and urge others to come and try out these amazing new items from their Lunch menu.

And moreover this meal will always be special for me since it was star studded and I met one of the most talented film directors of our times. Srijit was extremely warm, frank, and friendly. His down-to-earth nature made us extremely comfortable in a jiffy. I will surely watch Yeti Obhijaan as soon as it releases, actually to be very frank, I can’t wait any longer!! 🙂
Cheers!
P.S. I would like to thank First Idea PR and the Serafina (Kolkata) management for the invitation to this event.
